Writer’s Block + Short Stories
Posted by Sandra's Stories
You know what I’m talking about, the very reason why I haven’t made a post in ages!
I think I need to calm my mind and only focus on one thing, although it’s very difficult for me since I have so many other things to think about.
I’ve been writing short stories lately, and I’ve found that they are difficult – at least to me – to write. Not because writing is by any means hard, but because I have only a limited number of pages to write! I like expanding my characters, my places, my world. Short stories are so … short … that by the time your character is starting to grow, you have reached the end!
I know people can summarize short stories quite well, and I’ve gotten the hang of it now too, but still … it all feels too brief to me, like a single passing moment, and in that passing moment I must understand this character and feel for him/her.
Perhaps I just don’t like short stories and never will. I tried reading one of those “Chicken Soup for the Soul” books once, but I really didn’t like all the character switching. I like my stories to be developed and long.
What about you guys? Short stories … or lengthy novels?
Beautiful Day + Tower Heist
Posted by Sandra's Stories
Well, it’s a beautiful day outside – finally! It’s been cold and windy all week and now finally it’s sunny!
A few things to do today, one of them being trying a new tea at David’s Tea. There’s so many different kinds that it’s hard to choose which to buy. So far I’ve only tried four. (Two of which I didn’t like)
I got added to a circle on google+ today. It’s funny, because up until today I forgot I was even on that site. I started using it, but then realized I had no idea what to do on there (except become confused). Perhaps I’ll try it again. People say it’s a huge social media site nowadays. I personally like using facebook, twitter, and wordpress. (Even though twitter seems to have more spammers adding you than actual people)
Watched Tower Heist last night. It was pretty funny. Ben Stiller is hilarious in almost every movie he’s in, so I knew I was going to get a few laughs out of it anyhow. The movie is about a tower manager (Stiller) who finds out his best resident is actually a fraud who has stolen money from everyone in the building. He gets fired for beating up the guy’s model car (which is inside his suite) and is prohibited from entering the building. Later on, he finds out that the money still exists and plans out a “tower heist” to steal it back.
It’s an interesting flick, good for a laugh or two. Some jokes aren’t very funny, but most of what Stiller and Eddie Murphy say is quite amusing.
Anyway, I’m ready to take off. Time for some tea and possibly cake.
See you guys!

Posted by Sandra's Stories
As of today, my book – The Secret World of Dragons – is officially available in print! Yay!
You can purchase it here: http://www.amazon.com/Secret-World-Dragons-1/dp/1469900173/ref=sr_1_7?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1330055065&sr=1-7
I am quite ecstatic about this (as you can imagine) and so I’ll probably be up later than desired, further working on my website in the excitement of my news.
Also just finished watching the latest Criminal Minds. I swear that show gets better with each episode.
Anyway, off to work for me! Sweet dreams, everyone!
