Paperback in Two Weeks! Excited!!
Posted by Sandra's Stories
So my paperback copies are coming out in two weeks! I’m very, very thrilled about this! I ordered a proof and I can’t wait to see it! I’ve been developing my own ads for my novel. Here is one:
I think it looks good for a first try at a poster. I’ll make some more later and put them up around the net. I’m enjoying the excitement that comes from first-time publishing, and I’m going to get my books into local stores as soon as the paperbacks are out.
Anyway, back to work!

New Camera, Phone, and … Dragon just wants to say hi :)
Posted by Sandra's Stories
So my boyfriend bought me a Nikon D3000. What can I say? Best camera I’ve ever had, plus it takes the most amazing pictures. Great starter camera for someone like me who has no experience in photography.
Plus I got an upgrade for my phone. Moving up from a Samsung flip to a Motorola XT860 Android. Let me tell you, this is an AMAZING phone. The interface is beautiful. The quick contacts widget is just awesome, storing your favourite contacts at the top of your screen for easy access. Maybe it’s just me that’s amazed, though. Maybe I’m just overwhelmed because I’ve never had a smartphone before. :S
I like how I can access my facebook, wordpress, and so much more using this little gadget. It’s so much fun!
I also have some sad news. I think I will have to withdraw from NaNoWriMo. I haven’t written in two days and I feel like I won’t be writing any time soon, either. There’s just too much on my plate and I can’t eat it all, not even in small amounts. If only it were another year, a different year in the past or perhaps future. This year is just too much to handle. So good luck to everyone in the event! I wish you well on your writing journey and may you finish in triumph and not sheath your pencil in vain!
Anyway, it’s time for me to be off. I have studying to be done. Farewell for now!
p.s. Dragon would like to say hi!
I Should Probably Stop Making Fun of the ipad …
Posted by Sandra's Stories
I always called it an over-sized phone, but the ipad is a little more than that, it seems.
My boyfriend recently bought one and I find myself wanting to play with the device just as much as he does. It’s true that many features are like a phone, although with 32gbs of space, it’s a nifty little – er – big thing.
First off, I’d like to say that the battery life is incredible. It’s been at the same percent now as it was five hours ago, and if that doesn’t sell you, you should check out all the cool things it’s capable of.
There’s a neat feature called Air Video, which allows you to connect to your PC and stream videos from your folders. You can stream this from anywhere, not just in your own network area.
You can connect to all your favourite social media sites with the click of a button, check your mail more efficiently than before with iCloud, read your favourite books in a free version iBooks, and even create amazing presentations for work.
Using a special program called Dropbox, which you install on your iPad, phone, or PC, you can move files between all three by simply dragging a file into a folder.
The iPad is also a great gaming system, being able to play not only simple games like Angry Birds, but popular console games like Dungeon Defenders and Dragon Age: Origins. Right now I’m currently having fun with Dragonvale, a simple game involving raising pet dragons and upgrading the island they live on. Simple, yet very addictive.
The app store is always updating to have more things, like a remote that can access your iTunes on your PC, an app that can turn your iPhone or iPod Touch into a gamepad, or just something as simple as a list of all nearby restaurants in your area.
I know I sound very much like a salesperson right now, but really, it’s a cool machine! I’ve been running the iPad down for so long that I figured it was only fair to write something nice about it. The way it connects all of your things together is really quite amazing, and most people like the convenience of such a device. I think it’s a neat thing to own. Probably overpriced, but what Apple product isn’t?
Anyway, back to feeding my dragons.
