Wrath of the Titans

Feel the wrath

So I went to see this movie on Tuesday (yesterday). I must say, it was MUCH better than Clash of the Titans. I guess I should explain why I have issues with that movie before I get into this one. (Also, there will be spoilers for the first movie)

Clash of the Titans started off good, it really did, and I had hopes that it would be a great movie because I really liked the Greek gods. I was introduced to some cool characters, like Perseus’ trainer. But when the movie neared its end, every character that I liked died. Actually, more to the point, every character that I liked and didn’t liked died. Everyone died. So there was Perseus, alone with his Pegasuses and sword to fight the Kraken. If I was expecting an epic battle, I was very wrong. Perseus did nothing but fly back to the city, where he showed the Kraken the head of Medusa and threw his sword at Hades to send him back to the Underworld.

That was it. That was the end of Clash of the Titans.

So, moving back to Wrath of the Titans …

Like I said above, this movie was much better. It starts off with Perseus and his son, showing how they live in their village as fishermen. Zeus comes to Perseus to tell him that the Gods are losing their powers and Titans are escaping their imprisonment. Perseus ignores him and continues life as is.

Though, while Perseus is living in contentment, Zeus is betrayed by his son, Ares, and captured by Hades. They plan on using his power to release Kronos – father of Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades. This would mean total destruction of the world.

There is no moment that Liam Neeson cannot make epic.

So when a terrifying beast (top picture) attacks Perseus’s village, he takes his son far away and visits the temple closest to the heavens to speak with his father. Though, the message he receives is less than comforting, and so he must begin another quest to save the world. He teams up with the son of Poseidon, Queen Andromeda, and a very crazy weapon-maker.

Who knew "Jane Bennet" could be such a warrior?

This movie had a great cast of characters, the enemies were pretty awesome, and the 3d was great. I found myself jumping at some parts, like when a rock came hurtling at the screen or when the camera fell crazy heights through tunnels. Though, one thing I did not like was the camera angles in some parts. Sometimes it was hard to tell who Perseus was fighting or what was going on.

Yet the ending of this movie was so fulfilling, unlike its predecessor.

And of course, Kronos as the end fight was very cool.

Yikes

This movie was mainly about Perseus’s love for his son, and the growing bond between a father and son. This is basically the constant theme throughout the entire movie, pushing Perseus forward to save his son and father.

I’m giving it a 4/5. Go see it. I guarantee you’ll like it.

Rambling about movies, current trends, Jane Eyre, & The Hunger Games

Hey everyone! I’m still typing away at my sequel, eager to get it written and edited before my three months deadline arrives. (I made up the deadline on my own)

I also put up a new cover for another book of mine here: Upcoming Book. You can find a bigger screenshot at my facebook page.

So that’s what I’ve been working on! What’s I’ve been reading as of late is Jane Eyre (yes, I know I may have said that last week or the week before, but it’s coming along VERY slowly!) Reading Jane Eyre made me want to watch the latest movie out based on the book, so I watched it just now. Great movie. But I am a sucker for those kinds of films (i.e. Pride and Prejudice)

Speaking of films, the Hunger Games will soon be out. Yes, I know you’ve heard all you want to hear about it and possibly more, but I’m not one of those hard-core fans, I swear! I haven’t even read the book yet, though I picked it up on a whim, claiming to read it before the movie. Whether or not I’ll succeed in that endeavor, is still quite uncertain.

I’m not entirely sure that I like the idea of a society in which teens are forced to kill one another while the rest of the world watches. Seems kind of ridiculous, to be honest. But the trailer looked all right and everyone is apparently crazy about the books, so I guess I’ll have to give it a try too.

Who knows, maybe the line “it’s similar to Twilight” just kind of threw me off from the series. Perhaps that’s it, and it’s all Twilight’s fault.

I’m sorry. I must rant about the whole vampire and werewolf thing going out of control at least five times a week. But it does seem to be fading a bit, being replaced by “fallen angels”. Not of those things are particularly entertaining to me.

I want to find a great fantasy series!! I miss fantasy. I loved the Shadowmarch series by Tad Williams, but then it ended, and now it’s over, and so my fun is over. Sigh.

Yes, I know Game of Thrones is out there. But I’d rather not read/watch something filled with nudity/sex scenes, and disgusting blood-filled violence. I really do wish there was none of that in the series, because then I’d want to read/watch it (the plot is apparently very good).

So does anyone have any good fantasy novels they’d like to share? I really can’t find any!

forever writing,

iPad 3 Launch

So the iPad 3′s launch was today. Here’s a bit of info to fill you in on this neat new gadget in the Apple line.

First off, it’s actually not even called the iPad 3, but just the iPad. It has one million more pixels than the iPad 2. One million!

That’s a lot of pixels. More than your HDTV, in fact.

Let’s see what it has …

The resolution is 2048 x 1536, with an A5X processor, quad-core graphics, and a 5 MP camera on the back (capable of 1080p HD video capture). With 4G LTE capability, you can get some pretty fast download speeds. It also has up to 1o hours of battery life for you iPad addicts.

Now let’s look at the physical features …

It’s only about 9 mm thick, and only weighing a little over a pound. It will – of course – be in black and white.

Pricing for the new Apple iPad will be $499 for the 16 GB, $599 for the 32 GB, and $699 for the 64 GB. You can run this on Rogers, Bell, and Telus in Canada, while the U.S. gets At & T, and Verizon.

Pre-orders are starting today, but the actual product won’t be available until the 16th of March.

Looks pretty cool to me.
